PRUMC Youth Basketball Rules and Regulations
7-8 Year Old Boys

The referee is in charge of all games.

Regular rules of basketball apply except for the following:

Age Group: 7-8 Boys
Goal Height 9 Feet  (Cross Court)
Ball Size (28.5)
Clock Four 8-Minute Quarters, Continuous Clock except:
1. Free Throws
2. Mandatory Substitutions
3. Time Outs
4. last Minute of each half
Free Throws 10'
Halftime 3 Minutes
Pressing None
Defensive pick-up Half court
Overtime 1 - Two Minute overtime period
Possession Alternates
Time-Outs 2 per half
Lane violations 5 seconds
Fouls 1 and 1 on 7th
Requires playing time for players Each player must play at least 1/2 of every game

Notes to Referees for 7-8 age level:

Generally enforce: 

  • Double Dribble
  • Traveling (2 or more extra steps)
  • Fouls

Generally allow:

  • Leniency on 1 extra step
  • Leniency on sliding pivot

Use warnings at your discretion
